My husband and I were on our way back from St. Louis where I had been for a week long conference & we were hungry and decided to take this exit. We drove down to one end & didn't see anything "original" but then we went to the other end & saw a packed parking lot in the middle of the afternoon at Lotawata Creek Grill so we figured it must be good so we stopped in. The atmosphere is great. We didn't have to wait very long at all & once we were seated we were handed a menu with more choices than you could possibly imagine. Our waiter was quick to greet us & take our drink order, but because of all the choices it took us a good 10 minutes to decide. I got the Lotawata Cheeseburger & my husband got the Hillbillly Pork Chop Sandwich. When our food arrived, my jaw dropped! It was HUGE!!!!! My burger was so big I had to cut the bun horizontally and then cut the whole thing in half & I still only managed to eat about half. My husband ate just a little over half of his and if we could have eaten it all there we would have and if we didn't have such a long drive ahead of us we would LOVED to have taken home the leftovers. It was FANTASTIC! We asked the waiter if there were any others and he said it was the only one. BUMMER! Tennesseans would LOOOOOOVE IT! It would put Cracker Barrel out of business in a heartbeat! Overall, it was a great experience and next year we will be stopping there on our way to and from St. Louis! It was the best meal that we had all week!

Traveled the USA this summer in our RV and found your restaruant doing a Google search. The entire family enjoyed the food, ample portions and the large parking lot across the street for the RV. No one has come close to your food the entire two month trip! Service was also excellent.

If you haven't been to Lotawata Creek and enjoyed their food then you have really missed one of the best food experiences in the area. Next to Ted Drew's for unique quality and portions. You have to try the burger and fries. Most can not finish and take home.

Our family loves your restaurant. Our favorite appetizer was your fantastic fried pickles. We love to bring kids here and we have been doing foster care for a long time and we love to bring them over to eat there. They can't believe their eyes. I live in St. Louis and we took our out of town relatives to eat at Lotawata Creek and I had my granddaughther with me. She wanted the entre' with the big burger with onion rings on it. I told her it was going to be a lot of food and asked her if she was sure she wanted to try that (she is only 12 years old) and she said yes. Needless to say, when our food came the portions were so large, she couldn't believe it. She tried to handle it but couldn't master the mountain of food she had ordered, and wound up taking the majority of it home, it was so much! Lotawata Creek is the best place to come when you're hungry for good food and don't want to spend a lot of money.

Had a combined mothers and fathers day at your resturate. We had a great time and the food was great. Portions were way to much, but like it when I can have seocnds when I get home. Lotawata Creek is an exceptional restaurant. I went a couple months ago and ordered steak and fries, the portions are so generous that I have leftovers for about a week! They actually gave me a whole plate of fries (A LARGE PLATE!!) My whole family loved it, I highly reccomend their soups and fish.

OMG!My family and I went to Lotawata Creek on Mother's Day and let me tell you,it was awesome!The waitress(April)was a 5-star waitress!And now the food:Sensational and so delicious!We had more than enough food for a very reasonable price.My sons had the burger and ribs,respectively.My wife had the prime rib sandwich and I had the Hillbillie...YEEHAW!!But if that wasn't enough THE FRIED BANANA PUDDING...need I say more!The world has to know about this place...it's and experience of a lifetime!Highly recommended and we WILL BE BACK!!!

We were at your restaurant last night & the waitress we had (Heather) was exceptional! Combine an exceptional waitress & awesome food - wow - thank you for a great dining experience. I would like to make 1 request - is it possible to add the option of getting 1/2 an order of stuffed mushrooms. Myself and a group of friends came down to Belleville for a bowling tournament this past weekend and let me tell you the food and service was phenominal!!! The portions were HUGE, we all took half of our meal home with us!!! 1/30/2010 Got there at approx 6:30pm and told a wait of 1 hr 30 min. No promlem with that except we noticed several groups of 10 to 12 people waiting also and when they were called only about 4 or five were there. They sat down and the rest of their group came 15 to 20 minutes later. This causes everybody else to wait longer. We have seen other places not seat these type people until thet are all there. That is what you should do also! Food and service were great!!!!! We will ba back.

Was on my way to Kansas City and the weather got bad so I stopped in Fairview Heights for the weekend. What an experience. I love the ease of getting around this city and the shops and mall. But most of all, Lotawata Creek is the best restaurant I have had both lunch and dinner in. Your food is very tasty, and the size is unreal compared to the low price. recommened to us about 6 mths ago by drury inn tried on the weekend to long a wait so we didn't. we should have, we did go 11/22/09 it was awesome from the employees to the atmosphere to the food. we have never eaten anywhere that one of us didn't have a complaint about something this was great. will definately go back. i do agree with a few other comments about a sampler platter for appetizers. there is so many we would like to try. we live 3 hrs away so we don't get here often. thanks for a suberb dining experence

I've been several times for lunch & loved it! Had to bring my hubby recently for dinner. My only wish is that you had a combo platter for appetizers. The fried items (coconut shrimp, mac & cheese, stuffed mushrooms, onion rings, mozarella planks & fried pickles) would lend themselves to this quite easily. Or maybe offer a "pick 3 platter" using these items. So hard to choose, & they're all delicious! Also, we refer to our "to-go" boxes as "Lota Leftovers" -- they're just as good the 2nd time around. Can't wait to come back!

I was instantly attracted to Lotawata due to the full parking lot. I figured it had to be good. The "Steak Lotawata" was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Last night was my first visit to Lotawata and I was absolutely blown away! I have a new favorite restaurant! The portions are HUGE (expect to take home lunch and maybe another dinner too!) but the flavor is fantastic and the service is good. My family and I will certainly be back -- often!

I was there on 3/6. I came in right after you opened and had a great server and great food. The hostess who was a young girl with short dark hair was very rude. She was working with a group of people and she left them standing there for awhile while she did other things. I also noticed that she was very rude and seemed to not know what she was doing.

A great restaurant is very hard to get into in a timely manner on a Friday night. I noticed in the FAQ area they address that reservations are not accepted. Anyway, I go at 4 pm and rarely have a problem getting in. I know those who work late don't have the same opportunity, but the food is well worth the wait.

I contacted the restaurant to make reservations and was told there would be no problem and to expect a call back a couple of days later for confirmation. I did not receive a call back so I called the restaurant to confirm only to be told that they do not make reservations for Saturday nights. I now have 22 people coming from as far as a hour away with no reservations. I would not recommend them for their hospitality.

I came in Saturday night when my family and i was so suprised at how busy you were! After an 50 min wait we were all getting crabby and starving...our server Jacob got us our appetizers within 5-10 mins and was honestly the best server i have ever had. The food and the servers were really great. The only complaint was the hostess. I was there 11/20 and the hostess who was a little Mexican or Hispanic girl was very rude. She was using very profane language and totally ignored my friend and I for several minutes while she played with her cellphone. This is the first bad experience I have had with the restaurant.

My wife and I just had dinner at Lotawata. Rib/Steak/Shrimp combo preceded by fried pickles. Even after polishing off the pickles, the food tasted like heaven. I don't like to be negative in public but since your contact email doesn't work I have no choice. It is to your advantage that the food is good because when my order is wrong, again, after I repeated it on the phone twice and again when I picked it up it helps that it is good. At least this time it was just my lunch that I didn't have time to check because it took more time than was supposed to so as opposed to two other occassions when I treated others to what turned out to be surprises. Saturday, Feb. 23rd I called ahead to have my party of 11 put on the list. I told the owner that we were 45 minutes away and he said he would have us worked in then or maybe a few minutes later. Once there I told the girl that I called ahead and she went ahead and gave me a number. She said nothing about the computer prombems they were experiencing. After waiting 20 minutes we discovered that the computer system was down. We discovered this when two of the servers was talking about the situation. I then heard an employee tell the girls at the desk that they were closing. Not once was directly told this. The owner came out and asked the girls if they told the customers they were closing. They said they had not. I then went to discuss with the group our options. I then turned our pager in. They took it without an apology or any attempts to make good of the situation.

As I often do before a trip from Arkansas to Fairview Heights, I looked up restaurants and did some reading and scanning of menus. I have been the most surprised by the favorable comments received and looking at your video. It is so true that one picture is worth one thousand words. Lotawata Creek offers a unique atmosphere with exceptional food. The serving portions are huge, so ordering one meal allows you to take home snacks for two days. The prices are very reasonable too. The location is easy to find and a snap to get to either from the Mall, "crowded and gridlocked O'Fallon traffic, or off the interstate.

As a retired military member I have hours of free time to meet with friends and chat about the old days. Lotawata is a perfect place to meet friends and chat. If you go about 1430 hours you will find a free table without a wait and ample time to chat. Between the serving size and time, this is a win - win situation. I enjoy the Lotawata Burger and fries!

This is my favorite restaurant. The service is second to none and that goes for the food also. My favorite is a Prime Rib sandwich with baked-beans and broccoli. You can not find better for the money. Even many places that charge more do not have better food. ....and did I mention the fried pickles? yum....yum

Thanks for taking care of us the other day. We forgot about our promise to take mom to a nice restaurant for lunch and she just loved Lotawata. Traveled from Kansas City to see a friend in Fairview Heights. She took me to lunch and the rest is history. I expect her to take me back whenever I visit the city. She showed me your video before going and it really made it more interesting to know that Mayor Ken really could create a meal fit for the fussy eaters.

I received a gift certificate from my aunt in September and totally fell in love with the food. Great place for clients to dine. The meals are so large you have plenty of time to chat. Certificates are nice to have - (hint to Aunt Martha)!

I always enjoy my dinners at Lotawata. The service and food matches any restaurant in the area including some of the larger and nationally recognized places on the hill. I wish you had a restaurant in Columbia to save the travel but it is worth it.

The new site looks really great. I was looking forward to my return trip to Lotawata on Friday but ended up going on Tuesday. Best time was 2 pm. Fast service and I had the biggest burger ever. Each of the servers went out of their way to ensure my birthday was one to remember.

What a find! We arrived on Friday and found our new home was not ready to move into until Monday.
